Troop 28 announces advancements in rank

Boy Scout Troop 28 presented rank advancements at a Court of Honor ceremony on Jan. 26.
The rank of Life Scout was earned by Billings White. To earn this rank, Billings had to complete following as a Star Scout be active in his troop and patrol for at least six months, demonstrate scout spirit by living the scout oath and scout law in everyday life, earn an additional five merit badges, including an additional three from the required list for Eagle, take part in a service project totaling at least six hours of work and serve actively for six months in a position of responsibility.
First Class Rank was earned by Jonathan Hunter. To earn this rank, Jonathan had to navigate a one-mile compass course, participate in at least 10 separate troop activities, help plan a patrol menu for three meals, serve as his patrols cook for the three planned meals, discuss with a local official his constitutional rights and obligations as a U.S. citizen, discuss and demonstrate usage of lashings and the bowline know, demonstrate first aid skills and demonstrate Scout spirit by living the scout oath and scout law in everyday life.
Second Class Rank was earned by Timmy Peters and Robbie Delgado. To earn this rank, the scouts had to show how a compass works, partake in a five mile hike, actively participate in five separate troop activities, participate in a flag ceremony, demonstrate safe swim and water rescue techniques, participate in a program showing the dangers of using drugs, alcohol and tobacco, participate in a one hour community service project and demonstrate scout spirit by living the scout oath and scout law in everyday life.
Tenderfoot Rank was earned by Brendon Stuart, Carl Leonzi III, John Wood and Michael Koller. The scouts earned this rank by improving their physical fitness, participation with their patrol in a campout, demonstrating basic first aid skills, demonstrating hiking safety, and displaying Scout spirit by learning the scout oath, law, slogan and motto.
Boy Scout Troop 28 is a member of the Housatonic Council and was organized in 1971. The troop of 31 scouts is sponsored by the Mohegan School PTO and meets every Thursday at the Nike Site.
