Joseph P. Pivarnick, 61, of Shelton, died Feb.20, in Griffin Hospital.
Son of the late Joseph and Caroline (Jan) Pivarnick, he was born Nov. 27, 1950 in Bridgeport, and was a Stratford resident until moving to Shelton 10 years ago.
Mr. Pivarnick graduated from Bunnell High School and received his barber certification from Bullard Haven Technical School. He was a barber for more than 30 years and a longtime co-owner of the Head Company in Shelton.
In his down time, he was an avid salt water fisherman.
He is survived by his son, Josh Pivarnick; his son’s mother, Marianne (Martin) Pivarnick; and one brother Paul Pivarnick.
Visiting hours are Wednesday, Feb. 22, 4-7 p.m., Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton. Services, Thursday, 10 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Christopher Thomas Sawyer II Scholarship Fund to benefit students at Shelton High School, through the funeral home.
