Elizabeth “Betty” Marino, 92, of Newtown, formerly of Oxford, wife of the late Joseph Marino, died Feb. 12, surrounded by her family.
Daughter of the late Floyd Leland Bayles and Sarah Lecretia Killmer Bayles, she was born Jan. 20, 1920 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Mrs. Marino grew up in Hyde Park, N.Y. and this is where she met her soul mate of 68 years, Joseph Marino. They married and lived in Dover Plains, N.Y. before settling in Bridgeport for more than 40 years, and then Oxford for the next 20 years.
Mrs. Marino was a homemaker, raising four children. She was active in the Derby and Ansonia Senior Centers.
She is survived by her children, Joseph F. Marino and his wife, Carol of Shelton, Marie Ryan and her husband, Gary of Mesa, Ariz., Michael Marino and his wife, Elizabeth of Shelton, and Karin Hooper and her husband, Wayne of Sandy Hook; a sister, Sandra Haines and her husband, Richard of Florida; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She also was predeceased by her grandson, Todd Marino.
Services are private. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial gathering in celebration of her life Sunday, March 18, 1 p.m., at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Carol Marino, 3 Peters Lane, Shelton. Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia, handled arrangements.
