Mihaly “Mike” Szilagyi

Mihaly “Mike” Szilagyi, 76, of Shelton, formerly of Norwalk, husband of Ruth Hermes Szilagyi, died Jan. 28, at Griffin Hospital in Derby.
Son of the late Janos and Maria (Csankovski) Szilagyi, he was born June 25, 1935 in Szarvas, Hungary.
Mr. Szilagyi left his home country in 1957, following the Hungarian Revolution. He settled in Norwalk were he lived until moving to Florida in 1982. After his retirement in 1998 he moved back to be with his family in Shelton.
Mr. Szilagyi was employed for more than 30 years as a machinist at Algonquin Parts in Norwalk and also was employed at Allied Signal in Florida.
Mike enjoyed taking care of his pets, spending time with his family and friends and was known for his laughter, his family said.
Survivors include his children, Rosa McCoy and Margaret Paulson and her husband, David, all of Shelton; grandchildren, Matthew McCoy, Casey McCoy, David Paulson, and Emily Paulson; great-granddaughter, Lily Rose Williams; his brother and several nieces and nephews in Hungary.
He was predeceased by a brother and sister in Hungary.
Services are Friday, Feb. 3, 2 p.m., Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton.
