Oscar Balogh, 56, of Trumbull, formerly of Fairfield, husband of Zita Szabo Balogh for 32 years, died Jan. 20, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. His mother, Maria Sandor Balogh; and sister, Orsi Varga- Balogh, live in Shelton.
Born and raised in Transylvania, Romania, Mr. Balogh immigrated to the United States in 1985 and became a U.S. citizen in 1989. First settling in Fairfield, he moved to Trumbull 15 years ago.
The founder and president of Balco Interior Construction, Oscar was recognized and respected by those who worked with him and by the clients he served for his professionalism, integrity, and strong ethical values, his family said. His kindness as well as his practical advice and deep values brought out the best in others.
When time permitted his love of adventure and American history led to a number of motorcycle tours of historical sites. He also enjoyed the excitement of salt water fishing.
His devotion to his faith, family, and friends will serve a meaningful memory to the people he loved, his family said. A man to whom his Hungarian heritage, his adopted homeland and his personal honor, were keystones, Oscar’s altruism, charm and generosity of spirit will long remain in the hearts of those whom his life has inspired to be their best.
Besides his wife, survivors include his daughter, Abigel Balogh of Trumbull; his mother, Maria Sandor Balogh; and sister, Orsi Varga- Balogh, both of Shelton.
He was predeceased by his father, Jozsef Balogh.
A Memorial Mass at St. Theresa Church in Trumbull will be celebrated on a later date and time to be announced by the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield.
