Free throw competition this weekend

Boys and girls ages 10 to 14 are invited to the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship sponsored by the local Bernardo Council #1350 & Msgr Joseph Fitzgerald Council #14014. The event is Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Shelton Intermediate School gym, 675 Constitution Blvd. North.
Registration begins at 2 p.m. The championship is sponsored annually, with winners progressing through local, district and state competitions. International champions are announced by the knights' international headquarters based on scores from the state level competitions. Last year more than 179,000 sharpshooters participated in more than 3,000 local competitions. All contestants on the local level are recognized for their participation in the event. Participants are required to furnish proof of age and written parental consent.
