‘Bill’ Martin to be honored for 50 years of service

Housatonic Council BSA to honor Shelton resident Emil "Bill" Martin at an Camp Strang Alumni event.
A winter gathering for camp alumni, staff alumni and friends of Housatonic Council will take place Feb. 3, at 6 p.m., at Grassy Hill Lodge on Sodom Lane in Derby.
Martin, a long-time Scouting volunteer and member of the first camp staff at Housatonic Scout Reservation, will be recognized for more than 50 years of service to Housatonic Council's Edmund D. Strang Scout Reservation. Retiring Camp Director Tom Transue will also be recognized for 10 years of service.
The event includes hors d'oeuvres, soda, coffee and a cash bar. Cost is $25 for registered members of the camp alumni association and 2011 camp staff; all others, cost is $30.
