Ben Taylor to play Kennedy Center benefit

Ben Taylor, son of Carly Simon and James Taylor, will perform in the spotlight at the Sixth Annual Magic Moments, a benefit for The Kennedy Center Autism Project on March 24.

The Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University will host this fundraiser, which is the main funding source for The Kennedy Center Autism Project. Dottie Kellersman of Shelton is a committee member for this event.

 

Richard and Deborah Owens named parade co-grand marshals

The Greater Bridgeport St. Patrick's Day Celebration has selected of Richard W. and Deborah L. Owens as co-grand marshals for of the 30th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.

Rich grew up in Stratford and graduated from St. Mary's School and Bullard-Havens Technical School. He attended Housatonic Community College. Rich is a U.S. Navy veteran and served during the Vietnam War era. He currently is the manager of customer service for the fitting department at Southern Connecticut Gas Co., where he has been an employee for 34 years.

   

Nonprofit hosts concert to help those fighting foreclosure

Face the Music-Foreclosure Aid will host a concert featuring co-founder Mutti Lewis, Butch Taylor & the Penetrators and rising reggae star Sahmuel, at the Ramada Stratford Hotel, 225 Lordship Blvd., Stratford, on Saturday, March 3, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $35 and available at the door or online at EventBrite.com. Event will have a cash bar, hors d’oeuvres and raffles. Must be 21 or over. All proceeds benefit Foreclosure Aid services. Face the Music-Foreclosure Aid is a place for individuals and families in need to turn for free advice, guidance and financial assistance. Girl Scout cookies to arrive March 3

Trucks filled with Girl Scout cookies are scheduled to roll out on March 3, as volunteers and Girl Scouts of Connecticut staff will be waiting to distribute cookies to Girl Scouts for customer delivery.

   

Stratford schools classes of '62 plan reunion

The Stratford High School and Frank Scott Bunnell High School classes of 1962 are planning a combined 50 year reunion on Aug. 25, 2012.

The reunion committee is compiling an updated list of graduates along with a current address and email. Graduates are asked to contact the following committee members so that accurate class lists can be compiled.
