Golf tournament benefits Wounded Warrior Project

A golf tournament to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project will be held Tuesday, June 5, at the Mill River Country Club.
The Wounded Warrior Project provides support and services to severely injured soldiers and their families.
The cost is $165 per player and includes lunch, 18 holes of golf with cart and buffet dinner. There is also a one-hour cash bar after golf.
Registration and lunch begin at 11 a.m., followed by golf at 1 p.m

Fallen Heroes golf tournament May 21 at Great River

The Connecticut Fallen Heroes Foundation will hold its second annual golf tournament Monday, May 21, at the Great River Golf Club in Milford.
Registration begins at 10 a.m., with driving range, putting and a chipping contest at 10:30. After lunch at 11 a.m., a shotgun start is set for noon.
Housatonic hosts forum for veterans

Housatonic Community College will hold a forum that will introduce veterans to a variety of beneficial public and private resources in the Beacon Hall Events Center on Thursday, May 10, from 5 to 8 p.m.
As part of the VetsLink Connecticut Speakers Series, the forum will provide veterans and their families with information about resources such as affordable housing, jobs, health care, education, and small business start-ups.
Malloy orders flags at half staff tomorrow

Governor Dannel P. Malloy has ordered flags across Connecticut to fly at half staff on Saturday, March 17, in honor of Lieutenant Colonel Thomas A. Budrejko, according to a press release issued by the Governor's office.
Lt. Col. Budrejko served in the Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 469 and was raised in Connecticut. He was killed on Feb. 22, during a military helicopter training accident.
Flags will fly at half staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, the day Lt. Col. Budrejko will be laid to rest in Newington.
Mills graduates from basic training

Airman Christopher J. Mills graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, on Feb. 10. The airman completed an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.
Mills is the son of Christianne and stepson Russell Reed, son of Jeffrey Mills, and brother of Daniel Mills all of Shelton. He is a 2009 graduate of Shelton High School.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
