'Messages from the Titanic' — Thursday, May 17
"Messages from the Titanic," will consist of a two part exhibit presented by the Shelton Historical Society. The first part, "Voices," will take place on Thursday, May 17 at 7 p.m. at Plumb Memorial Library's Reading Room, 65 Wooster St., where the messages will be read aloud, accompanied by visuals and interpretation of the events as they unfolded while the ship-to-ship messages were being transmitted. A special blend of Titanic Tea will be served with other sweet refreshments. A $5 admission will benefit the educational programs of the Shelton Historical Society and include entry to the second part of the exhibit which takes place on Sunday, May 20, 1 to 4 p.m. at the Shelton History Center, 70 Ripton Road. There the memorabilia will be available to view, along with period attire from the historical society's collections.
Annie Jr. presented — May 17-18
The St. Lawrence School Drama Program will perform Thursday, May 17, and Friday May 18, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students in grade eight and younger. The school is at 503 Shelton Avenue.
Spring dance — Friday, May 18
The Shelton Teen Center will be holding a 6th Grade Spring Dance from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the Shelton Intermediate School gym, 675 Constitution Blvd. North. This event is a supervised and for all Shelton residents in sixth grade. Admission is $6 at the door. Snack bar is available. Music provided by DJ John Voket. Drink and Eat for Life Fund-raiser at The Dew Drop Inn 25 North Street, Derby, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday. For every beer, drink, shot or plate of food purchased, $1 is donated to Relay For Life of Shelton and Lower Naugatuck Valley
Spring festival — Saturday, May 19
The first annual Shepherd’s Spring Festival, sponsored by the Church of the Good Shepherd, will be held in the church parking lot at 182 Coram Ave. from 10 to 4 p.m., rain or shine. Veterans celebrated — Saturday, May 19
The Connecticut Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day Committee will be hold its second healing celebration on Saturday, May 19, from 11-6, at the Veterans Memorial Park.
The ceremony is to honor not only Vietnam veterans but all veterans. Rain date is Sunday, May 20.
